Green Industries Best Management Practices for the Protection of Water Resources in Florida (BMPs)

This workshop will familiarize attendees with the objectives and management standards of landscape maintenance that will reduce the risk of non-point source pollution. Continuing education units (CEUs) are available for most Lawn and Ornamental pesticide licenses. Certificates and training materials will be handed out for all who complete the workshop and pass the Post Quiz with a grade of 75%.  Completion of this class is now required by the Duval County Fertilizer Ordinance for any one who commercially applies fertilizer to turf or shrubs.

Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance

Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance workshops are designed to meet the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services classroom training requirements for the Limited pesticide certification used by landscape maintenance professionals. Landscape Maintenance Classes

The Landscape Maintenance series is a year long program for the Landscape Maintenance professional looking for classroom and hands-on-training in the horticulture basics. Topics include pruning, turfgrass maintenance, proper planting, equipment maintenance and more. Classes are scheduled once a month for two hours and are repeated annually. Once the individual finishes ten sessions (20 hours) a certificate of completion in Basic Horticulture Science is awarded by Duval County Extension.

ID Cardholder Training

Pesticide Applicators 

This workshop meets the classroom training requirements for Pest Control ID cardholders as prescribed under Chapter 482 of the Florida Statutes. The session is four hours but is designed in two hour increments for those persons needing two hours for annual renewal.

Worker Protection Standards: Train-the-Trainer

Pesticide Applicators at Farms, Forests, Nurseries, and Greenhouses

This workshop provides compliance material and information to become a WPS trainer.  All nurseries, greenhouses, farms, and forests must comply with this Florida Statue.  Continuing Education Units in some categories are available.

Chemical Spill Response Training

This training is provided by UAP and meets 29 CFR 1910.120(q).  Individuals who complete the course are certified as first responders to chemical spills.
